How to Draw Socks Step by Step
This tutorial shows how to draw a pair of socks using easy to follow illustrated steps and quick instructions.

The socks in the example have a very common and straightforward design with a distinct toe, heel and cuff.
Although this tutorial is very easy and does not require you to be very precise with your lines, it’s still recommended that you start it in pencil so that you can make correction if needed. Also, try and draw fairly light lines until you have the entire sock outlined and trace over them once all of it’s parts are in place.
Step 1 – Draw an Outline of the First Sock

Begin by outlining the main body of the first sock. Make it curved around the toes with a slightly protruded heel. The socks shape should then have a bend as it transitions into the leg. Draw the leg area getting a tiny bit wider as it goes up and then make it narrower near the the top.
Step 2 – Draw the Cuff

At the very top of the sock add the cuff. Draw its upper corners to be slightly rounded and make it’s upper sideĀ very slightly curved.
Step 3 – Draw the Second Sock

Using the first sock as a guide draw the second sock coming out from underneath it (like the two are stacked together). You can make the visible parts of the second sock pretty much the same shape as those of the first one.
Step 4 – Draw Toes & Heels

Define the toe on each of the socks with a single curved line. Also use a curve to define the heel of the first/top sock.
Step 5 – Draw the Details

Cuffs are often ribbed to help hold the sock on the leg. Draw a series of lines along the cuff of each of the socks as shown in the example to create the ribbing.
Once you’ve added the above details you should have a basic drawing of a pair of socks. If you want to get create you can go further and add a patter, a picture or a logo to one or to both. Whatever you choose to go with trace over your drawing with darker pencil lines (or a black marker) once done and move on to the next step.
Step 6 – Color the Socks

In this case the socks are white with light blue toes, heels, and cuffs. You can of course color them however you like or even just leave everything white (white socks are quire common).
Conclusion
This guides shows how to draw a simple pair of socks with a traditional design. As fabric can bend and warp you don’t have to be overly precise with their shapes. This makes the tutorial quite easy so hopefully you’ve not had much trouble following along with the steps.
