How to Draw Jeans in 8 Steps
This tutorial shows how to draw a pair of jeans. The jeans in the example are drawn one part at a time to make the steps easy to follow.

The tutorial consists of eight stages in total and you can see the preview of these in the image above. There is a also a close up drawing of the smaller details shown in one of the steps (step seven) to make them easier to see.
Overall the jeans have a fairly basic design to make the tutorial beginner friend. At the same time they also have enough detail as to not look too plain and keep things interesting.
The guide is put together in a way where you don’t necessarily need to do any erasing. However, it’s recommended that you start the drawing in pencil in case you make a mistake. Also, try and use light and easy to erase lines until you’ve added all parts of the jeans. You can darken them later on.
Step 1 – Draw an Outline of the Jeans

Begin by creating an outline of the overall shape of the jeans without any of their smaller parts and details. First, drawing both of the legs and then add the opening at the top.
Step 2 – Draw the Opening of the Fly

Draw a line near the middle of upper part of the jeans (slightly to one side) where the fabric is joined together. This is also the opening of the fly.
Step 3 – Draw the Waist Band & Belt Loops

At the top of the jeans add the waist band with the belt loops. Draw the waistband following the upper curve of the jeans. Draw the loops slightly angled to match the angles of the legs.
Step 4 – Draw the Button

Draw the button as a small circle near the middle of the waist band. Also, show the buttonhole as a small slit to it’s side.
Step 5 – Draw the Pockets

On each side of the jeans (below the waist band) draw the pockets. Define each of the larger ones with a single curve. The smaller inner pocket is partially hidden but is rectangular in shape, so draw it’s visible part accordingly.
Step 6 – Draw the Folds

As the jeans are somewhat stylized, just a hint of some folds is enough (no need to add too many details). Add some between the legs (below the fly). You can show these as a pair of curved lines on each side. Draw them coming closer together towards the middle but not joining.
Once you have the folds trace over your drawing with darker pencil lines or a thin black marker. Also, look over it before doing so to make sure that everything is in the right place.
Step 7 – Draw the Stitches

For the last part of the jeans add the stitches. First, draw the ones that define the fly. Add them starting with an upwards curve slightly above the split of the legs and then going straight up to the waistband.
Add the other stitches following the openings of the pockets and the bottoms of the legs.
To create the stitches first draw very light (barely visible) pencil lines to act as guides and then make little dashes along them. You can draw the dashes with either darker pencil lines or a marker right away.

Above is a close up drawing of most of the stitches and other small details of the jeans (so that they are easier for you to see).
Step 8 – Color the Jeans

You can make the jeans blue as it’s a very common color for these kind of pants. You can also use a different color if you prefer.
Make the inner part of the jeans a slightly darker variant of their main color of and make the button a yellow-brown (so that it looks like brass) or grey (for a different kind of metal).
You can create the darker variant of the blue (or whatever color you choose) by lightly going over it with a regular pencil.
Conclusion
This tutorial shows how to draw a common pair of jeans with easy to follow step by step examples.
A mentioned in many other tutorials here on EasyArtStart, a good way to draw is to start with the largest and most important parts of an object and to then work down to it’s smaller details.
As was shown in this guide the above approach can work quite well for drawing a pair of jeans.
