How to Draw a Water Drop in 4 Easy Step
This easy tutorial show how to draw a water drop in just four steps with very simple examples and quick instructions.

The goal is to create a drawing that is simple but that also definitely looks like a drop of water. The guide shows how this can be done by first giving the drop a very characteristic shape (in the line drawing portion of the tutorial) and then by using color to create a reflective looking surface.
It’s recommended that you do the line drawing in pencil and then trace over it with a black marker. Although, you could start in marker right away as long as you feel confident you won’t make a mistake.

Step 1 – Draw the First Half of the Water Drop

Begin by outlining one half of the water drop as shown in the example. Start at the top, make it’s shape wider as it goes down and then narrower again.
Step 2 – Draw the Second Half

Add the second half mirroring the first one. You want the drop to be symmetrical for a nicer looking drawing. If you are having trouble with this you can make a straight vertical line through the middle of the drop to act as a guide and erase it after you are done.
Overall you want the water drop to have a pointy top and a rounded bottom (close to a half-circle).
Step 3 – Color the Drop

To color the drop make it a light blue using whatever medium you like or have on hand (paints, markers, colored pencils, etc…).
When coloring leave a few white spots to show light reflecting from the surface of the water. Either outline these beforehand (lightly in blue or regular pencil) or create them as you color. Refer to the example for their shapes.
Alternatively you can add the reflections over top of the blue using a white correction pen or on a new layer if drawing digitally.
Unlike the drop itself you don’t want to reflections to have an outline.
Step 4 – Add the Reflection

At the bottom of the drop add a darker area that curves up into it’s sides. This will be a reflection of the surface below. Add it by either going over the light blue with a darker blue or a regular pencil.

Conclusion
This tutorial shows how you can create a somewhat stylized and simplified drawing that is easily recognizable for what it’s supposed to be (in this case a drop of water).
In this case this is achieved by giving the drop a very characteristic shape and by using color to create a surface that looks like water.
